I´m not a guy who likes to be racing every weekend. I good race goal keeps me motivated, but I enjoy much more the consistency of my training.
So, what I´m planning for this year: A few 10k races (4 maybe) and a couple of half marathons. I´m also likely to include a 5km race.
And how it would look like on my calendar? The 5k race on March 11th. Two weeks later, March 25th, a 10K race. Then, 3 weeks later, the half marathon on April 15th. After this, probably would go through one or two easy weeks and then get back to the running program. Still have May and June but I haven´t decided yet any races for this period.
The second semester is also not decided. The only thing sure is the date of the second half marathon I intend to race: August 5th. I have to think about other races yet. I´ll talk to my friends and see.
On my next post I´ll talk about race times.
I started preparing for 2012 last year, on Dec 6th. Two weeks following the Off Period schedule (finished on Dec 19th) and then two cycles of Build Up (first cycle finished this Monday, Jan 9th).
The best part of this was getting back into a running routine. Only 2 missed runs during Off Period (9 of 11 runs) and again 2 missed runs during Build Up cycle 01.
The weather is good these days. It´s been raining for some time and temperatures are around 21C when I´m out running. But it will not last long, unfortunately.
Yeah, I know. This blog was forgotten for a while. During my recovery time I didn´t have too much to talk.
Since my last entry nothing relevant happened. Not a single race. I had few 10k cycles and went through Off Period and the first cycle of Build Up, which ended last Monday.
Now that I´m running with a new watch (one with GPS), I´ve been able to try new paths.
Hoping for an amazing 2012. To us all.
My training is finally going well. I started a 3-week cycle last week and I´ve been able to run the most important sessions of the program. I´ve been giving myself some off days after a tough session just because I´m being cautious during this cycle.
The 2000 session last Thu was nice. Did 4 reps at 4:25/km and skipped the fifth. Next cycle I´ll try the five reps. A morning long run on Sat. I Ran 15km in 1h30. This run started tougher than it should be for the first 25 minutes. After my body woke up it became a very enjoyable run. Last Tue had my 1000 session. Six reps below 4:15. Only made a rookie mistake of not eating properly hours before and felt hungry during the session.
My training is becoming consistent lately and I hope to get the benefits of it soon. A 10k race on Oct 30th is scheduled.
Training has been very inconsistent these days. I traveled the weekend before (Aug 20 – 21st) and was able to run again last Tue. On Wed had to work late and Thu I woke up with an ingrown toenail that wouldn´t let me walk normally. Had it taken care but had to stay put for the rest of the week.
Now, I intend to start a new cycle this week and with some luck, everything will be fine from now on.
